1. The cold resistance of rubber seals mainly depends on the material of the rubber. The key to cold resistance is to choose raw materials with good cold resistance.
 
2. Rubber combined use is a commonly used method to adjust cold resistance in rubber formulation design. For example, SBR combined with BR, NBR combined with NR, CO, ECO can improve the cold resistance of rubber seals.
 
3. Choose an appropriate and effective vulcanization system. The glass transition temperature of rubber is lower than that of the traditional vulcanization system by 7°C. Therefore, the vulcanization of NR, SBR and DCP has good cold resistance. The cold resistance of vulcanization with thiuram is reduced, while the cold resistance of vulcanization with sulfur/sulfenamide accelerators is poor.
 
4. When peroxide and radiation vulcanization are used, the cold resistance of rubber seals is better than that of effective vulcanization systems and traditional vulcanization systems. This is because the volume expansion coefficient of peroxide vulcanizates is larger.
